Parent Communication

Contact
I look forward to building a collaborative relationship with all of you during this school year.  You know your child and I hope that you will help me learn how to meet the need of your child better.  That is why parent communication is so important to me.  I am available to meet before and after school. You can also reach me by email @gmail.com.  Please let me know the best way and time to contact you.

Homework pack/Unit studies
Every Friday your child will bring home a home work packet.  It will have the weeks spelling words and any homework that needs to be done during the week.  The packet will be due on Thursday mornings first thing.

Every 8 weeks we will begin a new Unit study.  I will be sending home a sheet with an overview of what we will be learning.  If there is anything you would like to contribute to the lesson please let me know.

Website
The class website will have student homework assignments listed as well as downloads, rubrics, homework, handouts and videos.  Parents can accesses this information anytime they would like.

Conferences
During the year there will be several parent teacher conferences.  During each conference I will be holding two different styles of conferences.  One will be a scheduled one on one Parent meetings and the second will be a group parent meeting.  I highly encourage you to attend the one that feels most comfortable for you.
Our class will also be holding one student lead conference in the spring. Where your child will be showing you their portfolio and sharing what they have learned during the year.

Volunteering
Parent volunteers are always welcome.  I encourage all parents/guardians to get involved this year.  Parent involvement helps to strengthen the classroom and support the students. There are a variety of opportunities to help out with and I am sure that everyone one can find some way to enrich our class.  Please fill out the attached form; it would be helpful in knowing how I can use your skills most effectively.
